Truss bridge (JTB)

Depending on the location in the construction, both tensile and compressive forces occur in the construction parts. The specific concept of trusses ensures that there is no (or little) bending moment in the beams.

A truss bridge is typically used for mid- and long span bridges. The bridge’ structural strength is reached through the truss structures on both sides of the bridge deck and shaped as triangle parts. Triangles are dimensionally stable and thus offer the required structural strength. Trusses are popular for bridge building because they use a relatively small amount of material for the amount of weight they can support. Sometimes the truss construction is also carried out under the deck, instead of above it.

  • The Truss bridge is of low maintenance, requiring minimum inspection after construction.
  • Most suitable for semi permanent and permanent use.
  • Minumum welding and only bolt-connected parts that are more resistant to fatigue.
  • No on site welding required.
  • Permanent positive camber.
  • Manual erection with minimum mechanical handling equipment because of its light elements.
